Sunday 18th May at Endsleigh Shoot, Tavistock
BKPO Mr & Mrs Tuckett and Tim Holmes and Chris Collier, the keepers
Judges : Dave Hodgson, Jon West and Margaret Cox
Many thanks to Mr & Mrs Tuckett for the fabulous ground, to our lovely judges that were so friendly and put the competitors at ease. The competitors for supporting our test days and of course Skinners and Sporting Saint for their valued prizes.
The three tests were held in the woods, which we were thankful for as it turned into a beautiful hot day. The cover was light, perfect spaniel ground.
The novice had a hunt up with a couple of seen retrieves under both judges, then a blind off a track and due to running on time we managed to add another test which was a seen over a log in light cover.

BKPO Rob and Lorraine Willmott
Judges: Dave Locke, Snowy Parker, Rob Willmott and Dave Kent
Many thanks go to the great, friendly judges, Rob for the use of his ground, Lorraine for a wonderful spread of food, all homemade and it was wonderful to see Lorraine looking so well after a dreadful few months. A great bunch of competitors, it was a lovely atmosphere, many thanks for joining in and supporting the club, also thanks to our sponsors Skinners for the valued prizes along with a thanks to Sporting saint for their gifts. Lastly a thanks to Acme for generously giving all competitors a new whistle when they received their competitor’s number. A huge thanks to Jo Rouse as she basically held the fort so both Sue and I could compete our dogs and did an amazing job. Thankfully the weather was overcast with some rain in the morning which then dried up, we were concerned about the heat but it was manageable and I’m sure all the dogs enjoyed their water retrieves.
Puppy Test
The puppy test started off with a hunt up, this was done singular to ensure the youngsters weren’t distracted by another dog. They hunted in rushes, then had a thrown seen. The dogs then had a small retrieve on the pond under Rob, followed by a memory and a blind in the same spot with Dave.
1st Vinchip King Cobra - ESS - Trudy Brown
2nd Middletor Kasja – ESS – Jenny Nuthall
3rd Monkswell Minx – CS – Becky Hawkins
4th Riverirk Magnetised – CS – Ali Yeo
Novice Handler – Ali Yeo
Novice Test
Due to having 24 entries we decided to split up the group to enable the smooth flow of the afternoon. Nos 1-12 went and did their hunt up in pairs under Dave and Snowy, again in the rushes. There was a seen retrieve under each judge on both sides. The other numbers started with a seen retrieve in the water with Rob but the handler was a fair way up a bank so the dogs had to hold the dummy well before having a good shake. They then went on to Dave’s exercise which was a blind with rushes off to the left which could have been inviting for a little hunt around !
