Novice & Open AV Spaniel Test 2024
Sunday 14th April at Endsleigh Shoot, Tavistock
BKPO Mr & Mrs Tuckett and Tim Holmes, the keeper
Judges : Steve Brankin, Matt Warren and Rob Wilmott
Many thanks to Mr & Mrs Tuckett for the fabulous ground, to our lovely judges that were so friendly and put the competitors at ease. The competitors for supporting our test days and of course Skinners for their valued prizes.
Both tests were held in the woods which had light cover, perfect spaniel ground.
The novice had a hunt up with a couple of seen retrieves then a testing blind off a track with a back wind and then due to running on time we managed to add another test which was a seen through some light bramble then over a stone wall into the woods.

Puppy / Novice Av Spaniel Test
Sunday 23rd June at Jays Barton Farm, Okehampton.
BKPO Rob and Lorraine Willmott
Judges: Margaret Cox, David Hodgson and John Pascoe
Many thanks go to the great judges, Rob for the use of his ground, Lorraine for a wonderful spread of food, all homemade ( I'm truly impressed ) the competitors for joining in and supporting the club, our sponsors Skinners for the valued prizes along with a thanks to Sporting saint for their gifts. A huge thanks to Jo Rouse as she basically held the fort so both Sue and I could compete our dogs and did an amazing job.
The puppy test started off with a hunt up in pairs in a mixture of grass and rushes. It was run to simulate a trial, so all the dogs were seen by one judge, then once all the competitors had their first run they then went under the second judge. All the dogs had a seen retrieve under both judges. They then finished off with a seen followed by a blind in the same spot under the third judge.
Puppy Test
1st Stockingford Dolores - ESS - Nicky Chapman
2nd Kipperidge Bo - ESS - Dennis Wills

The novice test also comprised of three tests, the hunt up being held in grass and rushes and again run to simulate a trial, with a seen under both judges. From there we went across the farm to the lake and had a seen there, which I think the dogs thoroughly enjoyed, to have a cool down. To finish with there was a testing blind in the open field placed among the reeds.
