The 77th ESS Championship was held on 8, 9 and10th January at Drumlanrig Castle in South West Scotland by kind permission of the Duke of Buccleuch. The judges were Paul Dyson, Mark Clifford, Eddie Scott and John Pay.
51 ESS qualified to run of which 48 took to the field on the first day. Rain and wind on the first day, together with a sparse supply of game, made conditions very difficult, with many fancied dogs falling by the way. The weather improved on the second and third day, as did the game supply. The judges called five dogs back into line for a short run off to decide the final placings and closed their books at lunch time "Trial over".
